3 Day Makeover

We finally moved out of our temporary bedroom and into the new master. This meant it was finally time to convert the space into a much needed guest room. Unfortunately, once the master was finished I had Z-E-R-O motivation to start another project, but with guests arriving in 3 short days, I had no choice but to get off my lazy bum and do something with this very sad space.

With little time and even less desire to spend a lot of money on what will hopefully be a kids room down the road I had to get thrifty with items I already owned. As of now, I would consider it a halfway finished guest room.

When we bought the house, the room was painted in a painfully bright red with a lighthouse border (yes, you read that right - a lighthouse border). Sadly, I do not have before pictures, but you can get a glimpse of the red here:

Before even moving into the house we stripped the border and primed the room, but with many other more pressing projects on our plate, it stayed that way for an entire year.

I wanted the space to be bright and airy with a few fun pops of color. I also wanted to incorporate our yellow sofa and several of the other items we previously had in our cottage that were now taking up space in the basement.

The walls are Benjamin Moore Decorator White (leftover from the playroom), above the picture rail is Benjamin Moore Nimbus Gray (my original pick for the master bedroom that I never used), the curtains and dot pillow on the sofa are from West Elm, a few of the accessories are from Target and everything else (rug, bedding, night stands, sofa, pillows, etc.) I already owned. All in all I would say the makeover cost $350 total (most of which is in the curtains because 108" length tend to be hard to find and more expensive)

The painting was done by my Grandma Lucia when she was 18 years old and is one of the few pieces I have from her. I absolutely love it.

I must say, the rug is too small, but it will work for now. Otherwise, I still need a new light, more art/ decor on the walls - especially above the bed - and styling pieces, but it's definitely a start!
