High Point

Whew, what a week! I’m back from High Point and I left feeling inspired both creatively and professionally.

Testing out a chair we recently sourced…after an entire day of walking, I almost didn’t get up.

I typically steer clear of anything too trendy. I believe great design stands the test of time, but the truth is, there will always be trends and as I designer, they cannot be ignored. Although I didn’t see anything at market that felt completely new, there were a few consistent themes I do not see going away anytime soon. The first being natural and textured elements such as raffia, cane, and woven pieces.

Earth tones are still huge, and as I’ve been saying for quite some time, cream, beige and brown are back (hopefully forever) combined with terra-cotta, rust and camel tones. Lots of chalky blues and greens, too.

Clean and modern lines have been big the past few years, but traditional looks are definitely making their way back and I am not complaining.

Lots (and I mean lots) of oversized artwork and coffee tables, too.

So, what do you think? Any surprises?
