Master Update

Due to selling the cottage, progress on our master bedroom/ bathroom project slowed down BIG time, but we're finally back on track and construction should be complete in the next week. Then it's on to the fun part...decorating!

For those who know me, you know I love to paint! Until about two weeks ago, I had every intention of painting this three room space, but the reality is - we are ready to be done and if I try to take on the painting, due to limited baby-free time, it will be another 2 months before that happens. Not to mention, after taking a closer look at the walls and trim they require a much more talented painter than myself, so we decided to hire our favorite painter, Trent, to keep the schedule on track.

Trent put the first coat of Benjamin Moore, Pale Smoke on the bathroom walls and I immediately knew I missed the mark. I wanted a gray/ blue - but primarily gray with just a touch of blue. The problem is, it's blue with a touch of gray. Although I look at paint swatches every single day, it just wasn't right. In my opinion, gray is by far the most challenging color to figure out. It can quickly skew blue, green, brown or purple. It can also become very institutional if there are not any undertones. Pale Smoke is actually a nice color if you want a soft blue, but lesson learned, it's not gray.

For the second coat - we switched it up to Silver Sword by PPG. Much better!

Below is Pale Smoke, it is difficult to see just how blue it is with the lighting.

The lighter strip of paint along the bottom of the arch and in the corner is Silver Sword.

And, here's what the room looks like right now. Trim is up and painted, floors are done, lights partially installed. We're getting there!

The sitting room will be painted Kendall Charcoal by BM (it's intense!), and I'm 95% certain the bedroom will be Edgecomb Gray by BM.

We are still debating the strategy for the bedroom ceiling, but I have not given up on the super shiny lacquer look.

Once the room is complete I'll go through all of our product selections.
