Living Room Redesign

Oh. my. goodness! How did an entire month go by without even ONE blog post!? YIKES! I am so sorry! It's time to brush off the cobwebs and get this thing back on track! Between a lovely family vacation, lots of projects that are in full gear and summer activities - life has been busy, but so fun.

This next project isn't quite complete, but I thought I would share the plan. I have loved every minute of working with this client. She and her husband began tackling their living room about 6 months ago and have done A-MAZING things. Beautiful new hardwood floors, a wonderful warm gray paint on the walls and a new stone fireplace facade. Honestly, this is a perfect canvas to work with. Lucky for me, the room layout is a bit tricky so they thought they would get help figuring out how to finish the space. And that's where we're at now!

Here is the room when I arrived for the consult:

And, here is the design plan:

Originally, my clients thought they wanted another sectional, but I had a few reservations given the layout of the room. I was concerned a sectional would always be confined to the corner and limit the possibilities for a conversation area. So, I designed the room both with and without a sectional.
With sectional
Without sectional

We decided to go with the 2 sofa option.

Along with all the great updates I mentioned above, my client also recently purchased a new kitchen table and adorable chairs with a green pattern. The goal was to create a relatively monochromatic space and incorporate slight pops of green to tie in the kitchen chairs. In addition to the monochromatic feel, we wanted this room to be a hybrid of contemporary and rustic so we kept with very clean lines, but incorporated distressed pieces as well. The linen covered ottomans will serve three functions, 1) footrest 2) coffee table and 3) toy storage. The ceiling fan will be replaced with a semi flush mount lantern, and the pendant shown in the plan will go above the kitchen table. We are also going to create a fun gallery wall using my clients amazing collection of family photos on canvas.

Most of the furniture has arrived, now it's onto the fun part - pulling it all together! Can't wait to see how this turns out!
